The sounds of EIY are created by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist and sound artist Emily Peters. The vibrations she makes are an exploration of texture and weight, existence and space. They investigate the essence of life and living. They journey through the seen and unseen.

The sounds of EIY are an experience to be felt, touched, seen, as well as heard.

Through her sound practice, EiY translates sensation and the infinity of beingness into soundscapes. Fueled by a deep yearning for freedom in all its forms, she investigates the vibrations of our innate stillness in its multitudinous forms. Her soundscapes seek to remember our true selves to our minds and allow them a space of deep rest, unconditional repair, and full surrender. Using the voice, acoustic guitar, mandolin, field recordings, and synth, along with sound healing instruments like wind gong, crystal singing pyramid, Tibetan singing bowls, wayunki, shakers and bells, and bamboo flute, she crafts soundscapes that allow for nervous system repatterning and a recognition of our selves as something far more vast than our personalities and brains.

Subtropical herbalism, permaculture and movement practices also nourish and inform EiY’s work. To support EiY’s herbalism practice visit the Pitanga Grove Apothecary.

She also creates mantra and new age music as Sat Sukh, and creates sustainable clothing, jewelry, and art pieces where she plays with and investigates . . .

As a textile and metal artist, Emily Peters’ work centers responsible and decolonized ecology conservation, and reimagining the use of our Earth’s resources by departing from the paradigm that views the Earth and its inhabitants - both sentient and non-sentient beings - as objects to be possessed and used. Her material mediums are sustainably produced metals, reused natural materials, reclaimed natural fabrics from linen services, and non-toxic mineral and plant pigments in a process that uses only soybeans, and 80% less heat and water resources than most dye processes used today require - including the natural ones. After dyeing the textiles, I use fabric manipulation techniques to sculpt fabric into three-dimensional shapes, mirroring the way nothing is in isolation.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Clothing Design, with a minor in Fine Art from the University of Minnesota at Twin Cities; her internship was with DadaDress. Her studies brought a full merger of art, craft, and technical skill.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT :: EiY (Emily Peters) lives on unceded territories of the Seminole and Miccosukee, and formerly, the Tequesta. While this land acknowledgement is no substitute for land back, it’s a small step towards restoring indigenous peoples’ rights and dismantling neo-colonialism.
