Umbilicus of the Earth explores the raw energy of seeds in visual form. Seeds are the reason we exist and seeds are carried in every First Peoples' culture as the reverent foundation of the people as ancestors and relatives. Each one is the root of our existence and the point at which we are all connected, much like our own navels are. I expressed the potential of energy at the moment of bursting forth from their shells through the use of clothing draping techniques which are usually used in pattern making and tailoring for clothing, which is an umbilical art form whose finesse passes from student to teacher, generation to generation and can only be done with our hands.
