Summer Heat

EiY (Emily Peters) will be exhibiting Umbilicus of the Earth - a zero-waste textile art piece that explores the raw energy of seeds, and the potential of new life they carry. While plants grow year-round in subtropical South Florida, our intensely hot summer rainy season is a dormant period for most seeds and more delicate plants. Umbilicus of the Earth is named for many First Peoples’ name for seeds, which is the belly button, the navel or the umbilicus because, just like our navel, seeds are the physical conjoining points that connect us to those who came before. The installation at Summer Heat Exhibition at Arts Warehouse in Delray Beach will be be on view through 23 August, with an opening reception on 10 July 2025, 6-8 pm
